Actor Bipasha Basu has been in the limelight for the past couple of months over her alleged link-ups, but the actor chooses to remain blissfully ignorant. The reason for that being her new found happiness – her career.

The actor, who is gearing up for the release of her next film, Raaz 3 says she has come a long way since the time she started out. “Initially, I wasn’t sure about films and just got into it because I was bored and I was done with modelling. It was Vikram Bhatt, who sat me down, saw that potential in me and explained that I could be a very good actor. After Jism and Raaz, the Bhatts offered me most of their films but for some reason or the other, it never worked out. So this time, I told them to give me a role I couldn’t refuse and Raaz 3 was perfect. More than horror, the film is a human drama. My character is deep and vulnerable, something everyone will be able to relate to,” says Bipasha.

Talking about coming back to the horror genre, Bipasha says the idea is to get rid of fear. “I get spooked very easily. Anything and everything scares the hell out of me. I guess doing horror films is my way of overcoming my fear. Isn’t life all about that anyway?” So has she been successful in overcoming her fear? “Far from it. But I have considerably improved. I can now sleep alone in the room.

But while shooting for Raaz 3 and Aatma, I have had countless sleepless nights,” she confesses. Talking about her character in the film, Bips says, “I play a modern, successful woman. Everyone wants to be happy and successful in life but the only difference here is that her means to achieving that are slightly twisted.”

While Bips has been around for a couple of years, it is only recently, that she realised films were what she was meant to do.

“As you grow older and mature, you realise where your interest lies. I have had some tremendous highs and lows in the past couple of years, but I have been very fortunate. I made a lot of life altering decisions in the past two years and it is during this time that I realised that films are what I love. This is where I belong. Today, when I look back, I can confidently say, I am way better an actor today. More than that, I am just a better person,” she smiles.
