Director-turned-actor Farah Khan is gearing up for her debut on the big screen with actor Boman Irani in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. The story is about two 40 years olds, who fall in love and the their story thereafter. While Farah has shed a lot of weight and is looking svelte to face the camera, she still was facing a big dilemma.
Farah who has been a choreographer and later started directing was always used to being behind the camera. She took it up as a challenge when film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sister Bela Sehgal approached her for her directorial venture. She went on a strict diet, lost a lot of weight, hit the gym with vengeance and even changed her entire wardrobe. However, one thing about her was very difficult to change and that was her directorial skills.
A source from the sets reveals more. “Farah is so used to being behind the camera that it is very difficult for her to be non-interfering. She has to look into the monitor after every shot, but that gradually stopped. Also giving a lot of takes for her got slightly exhaustive. Farah is used to making their actors work so this time when the tables were turned on her, she actually realised the hard work that actors had to put in to give that perfect shot. Also her make-up had to be constantly touched up and that is when she realised how much she made her actors work,” says the source.
“Farah loves being in front of the camera and has taken to it like fish to water, but she has now realised how frustrating it is to keep giving takes again and again, something she didn’t understand when she was a director. She now has immense respect for actors and is thanking her stars that she has been fortunate enough to be calling the shots all this while,” adds the source.
