Indian couture kings Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, who completed 25 years in the industry last August, haven’t let the celebrations cease. The designers best known for dressing the Bachchans, among other big names such as Maggie Smith, Sophie Marceau, wanted to celebrate this milestone by setting their vision for the next 25 years, and for them a book turned out to be “the ideal vehicle.” The duo told us that the two-volume book will premiere at a private soiree in Mumbai, next month. “India is both our home and our inspiration. The book will, of course, debut on home territory,” added the designers.
Titled, India Fantastique, the two-part book traces their journey and work in both fashion and interiors. From September 3-5, Sotheby’s London will feature installations of their fashion, furniture and art to coincide with the launch of their publication. And present for the inauguration will be none other than friend and supporter Big B along with Dame Judi Dench, who has been a big fan of their work. The designers confirm, “We are delighted that Dame Judi Dench and Amitabh Bachchan will release the book at the London event. It is an ode to the arts, crafts and creativity of India at their finest.
