Actor Vidya Balan, who in her own words has been enjoying a rather well-deserved break will be neck-deep in work, once again. The actor was recently in Australia to attend a film festival there, before returning to the city. Buzz is that the Bollywood hottie is expected to begin shooting for her film Ghanchakkar with actor Emraan Hashmi in early August.
The film has Vidya dabble in comedy, a genre that the actor has often expressed a keen desire to delve into. “More than anything I would love to do an out-and-out comedy,” the actor had earlier said. And seems like the quirky comedy fit the bill perfectly for the actor.
However, according to insiders, Vidya was sort of caught in a dilemma before signing on the dotted line of this film which will be helmed by the No One Killed Jessica director Rajkumar Gupta.
Explaining it, an insider claims that Vidya was offered Ghanchakkar and another film Shaadi Ke Side Effects (the sequel of the Mallika Sherawat-Rahul Bose starrer Pyaar Ke Side Effects, that sees Vidya pair with Farhan Akhtar for the first time) around the same time. Apparently, the shoot of both the films was also to commence simultaneously, which put Vidya in a quandary over which film to sign up.
“The makers of both the films were keen to have Vidya on board, and the situation had put her in a fix, as both the films were to go on floors almost simultaneously. Vidya had liked both the films so it was becoming difficult to choose for her,” says the source. But then things eventually worked out in everyone’s favour, as one of the films got postponed by a few months. “Shaadi Ke Side Effects got pushed by a few months, which gave Vidya a wide berth to go ahead and sign both the films. Naturally the makers were elated as things fell into place automatically,” adds the source.
