He started his career as a radio jockey, but Manish Paul has found his stardom on small screen. He is currently hosting Zee TV’s Dance India Dance Li’l Masters.
“Hosting the show has been one of the best things in my life. I am enjoying this a lot,” he says.
So, what does he prefer— hosting or acting? “To be honest, I prefer good work. Be it acting or anchoring, I want to be an entertainer. If I manage to entertain my audiences, I am okay with anything,” he adds.
But TV does have its share of occupational hazards like long shooting schedules and hectic working hours. “I don’t mind hectic working hours as long as I am happy with my work. If I am enjoying my work, I will not look at my watch. The moment I do, it means I am unhappy with whatever I am doing. But yes, long working hours, especially in daily soaps, do take a toll on your life and health,” he says.
So how does he balance his working hours and his personal life since he is married? “I am blessed to have a very understanding wife. We have been in love since our childhood and then got married. So we know each other too well to complain. Sometime I do shoot outdoors for long durations. So to make up for the damages, I do take her for holidays. And one funda always works with a woman that is shopping. I take her shopping as and when possible,” he says.
Manish and his wife Sanyukta haven’t extended their family yet but it’s not very far. “We haven’t planned anything but yes, I want to be a father before 30. I want my personal life to be in total planning.”
Every TV actor harbors the ambition of becoming a film star. What about him? “I did a small film called Maruti Mera Dost. I don’t plan anything. If I am destined to do films, someone will take me out of DID and give me a film. But I am not one of those who will knock on somebody’s doors to ask for film roles,” Manish says.
