Students and medical aspirants can finally heave a sigh of relief. The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) on Thursday announced the NEET result 2017.

The NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) examination is held for admissions in undergrad medical and dental courses across India.

The NEET examination for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses was held on May 7. Over 10 lakh students gave the exam in Hindi or English this year, while around 1.50 lakh students chose from eight vernacular languages - Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Gujarati, Oriya and Kannada.

The NEET 2017 results were held up by an order of the Madras High Court after a batch of pleas were filed alleging that uniform question papers were not given and there was a big difference between the English and Tamil papers.

The Supreme Court had on June 12 permitted the CBSE to declare the results of NEET 2017.

The NEET 2017 result declaration will clear the way for admissions for 56,000 MBBS/BDS seats in the country.
