NEET PG 2021 Exam POSTPONED by 4 months, will not be held before Aug 31 - Details

Students will also be given atleast one month of time after the announcement of the NEET PG 2021 exam before it is conducted.

NEET PG 2021: The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test- Postgraduate (NEET PG 2021) has been postponed for four months. The decision was taken to boost the availability of medical personnel on COVID duty.

A government release said: "A decision was taken to postpone NEET-PG for at least 4 months & the exam will not be held before 31st August 2021. Students will also be given atleast one month of time after the announcement of the exam before it is conducted. This will make a large number of qualified doctors available for Covid duties."

No new date has been announced as yet.

PM Narendra Modi on May 2, 2021, had reviewed various measures to augment human resources for managing the prevailing COVID situation effectively.

Decisions taken by the government-

1. The individuals who complete 100 days of COVID duty would be given priority in the upcoming regular Government recruitments.

2. Medical interns would be deployed for COVID management duties under the active supervision of their faculty.

3. Final year MBBS students can be deployed for providing services like teleconsultation and monitoring of mild COVID cases after due orientation by and under supervision of the faculty.

4. The services of final year PG Students (broad as well as super-specialities) as residents may continue to be utilized until fresh batches of PG students have joined.

5. BSc/GNM qualified nurses may be utilized in full-time Covid nursing duties under the supervision of senior doctors and nurses.

"The medical students/professionals sought to be engaged in Covid related work will be suitably vaccinated. All health professionals thus engaged will be covered under the insurance scheme of government for health workers engaged in fighting Covid-19," the release said.

"All such professionals who sign up for minimum 100 days of Covid duty and complete it successfully will also be given the Prime Minister's Distinguished Covid National Service Samman from Government of India," it further said.
