NEET, JEE postponed to September amid COVID-19 scare, here are new dates announced by HRD Ministry

The HRD Ministry's decision came right after parents and students voiced concerns about conducting the exams in July, with COVID-19 cases are increasing rapidly.

The decision to postpone the national level medical and engineering exams has been taken by the central government on Friday (July 3).

The final call on the matter was taken after a panel, formulated to analyse the feasibility of going ahead with the medical entrance exam NEET and engineering exam JEE Main in July as COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the country, recommended the governing body to reschedule the exams.

The exams will be now held in September, later this year.

"Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone #JEE & #NEET examinations. JEE Main examination will be held between 1st-6th Sept, JEE advanced exam will be held on 27th Sept & NEET examination will be held on 13th Sept," Union Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD) Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" wrote on Twitter.

While the NEET exams will be held on September 13, the JEE Main examinations will take place between September 1 and September 6.  

JEE Advanced or IIT JEE will be conducted on September 27.
