Minutes after the first language English paper for the Higher Secondary Examination (HSC) began across the state, the question paper was reportedly leaked after the exam started at a school in Solapur 's Barshi Taluka. The paper began at 11 am on Wednesday. In the backdrop of cases of leak, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education(MSBSHSE) had decided to bar students from entering the exam hall late.

Minutes after the exam began however, a few students at the Tambewadi Ashramschool in Barshi were found with copies of the paper on their phone. The board has now sought details regarding the case and has refused to call it a leak. "We have asked for an urgent report from the centre where this happened. However since the paper was found minutes after the exam started, it cannot be called a leak. Students need not panic as we assure that there won't be any re-exam " said Shakuntala Kale, Chairperson of the state board.
