The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) aptitude test to boost the flair for scientific research among high school students will be held on November 3 nationwide. The test will be conducted both in Hindi and English. For students to avail the test, they need to be currently studying in classes 11 and 12 and must have secured at least 75% in Science and Maths subjects at their Class 10 board examinations.

Interested students can apply online for the test at the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana's official website -- kvpy.iisc.ernet.in.

Keep in mind that the students, according to the website, will be required to have a soft copy / scanned (digital) image (in JPG/JPEG format) of his/her recent Passport Size Photograph (less than 150 KB) and Signature (less than 80 KB). Candidates should also ensure that both the photograph and signature are saved on their PC/Laptop/Other Media. The SC/ST and PWD candidates must upload a scanned copy of caste (SC and ST) and medical certificate (for PWD) in PDF format (less than 300 KB).

How to apply online for KVPY Aptitude Test 2019:

Step 1. Visit the official website of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) -- kvpy.iisc.ernet.in.

Step 2. Click on the option 'KVPY-2019 online application portal'. There will be link for 'Click here' beside the text.

Step 3. Read through all the instructions carefully. 

Step 4. After you are done with reading, put a tick mark on the disclaimer, and click on 'Login'.

Step 5. Go through all the following processes carefully and fill in the application without any mistakes. After registration/login, you will need to fill in the personal details and academic details.

Step 6. Upload your photograph, signature and other required documents

Step 7. Pay the online registration fee and proceed with the final submission.

Step 8. Your application is now registered for the KVPY Aptitude Test 2019.
 

 

About KVPY Aptitude Test 2019:

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and it is implemented by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The program was started in 1999 by the Government of India to encourage students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up a research career in Science. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research.

According to the website, "The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science."

The advertisement for the KVPY Fellowship appears in all the national dailies normally on the Technology Day (May 11) and the Second Sunday of July every year.

The website also elucidates that the selection of the students is made from those studying in XI standard to 1st year of any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences namely B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology having an aptitude for scientific research. Special groups / Committees are set up at IISc to screen the applications and conduct an aptitude test at various centres in the country. Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students are called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure. For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test and interview marks are considered.

Generous fellowships are provided up to the pre-Ph.D. level to the selected KVPY Fellows.
