FYJC admissions: After quota seats were surrendered, 1 lakh seats available for special round in Mumbai colleges

After fourth round of FYJC online admission process, the Education Department has started special round of admissions for students who could not get the admission in junior colleges even after fourth round.

After the surrender of vacant quota seats of minority, management and in-house categories by city junior colleges, almost 1 lakh vacant seats are available in FYJC online admissions for special round students.

After fourth round of FYJC online admission process, the Education Department has started special round of admissions for students who could not get the admission in junior colleges even after fourth round. However, the Education Department has blocked the admissions of all those students who despite of getting first preference of their college did not confirm the admissions.

After surrendering the minority, in-house and management quota seats by colleges, the education department have got over 1lakh vacant seats for admissions of FYJC. Out of over 1 lakh vacant seats, 10,663 seats are of minority quota from minority colleges, 6,072 of in-house quota and 5,674 of management quota seats from colleges in Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The remaining are General open category seats.

Suvarna Kharat, deputy secretary of school education, said, "The students who did not confirm their seats despite of giving them their first preferred college will be given a chance to take admission in First Cum First Serve (FCFS) rounds. After the FCFS round all the admissions will be over."

The education department displayed the vacancy list today for special round. Students can fill Part-I and Part-II of admission forms between 13th to 14th August looking at the vacancy in colleges. Students who were not admitted in earlier rounds, rejected in earlier rounds, not reported in earlier rounds and not allotted in earlier rounds can edit their option form in special round. The displaying special round general merit list on website will be on 18 August and admissions for special round general merit list will be between 18th to 21th August. First come first serve round will be conducted after completion of special round -1 which will be declared later.
