Hundreds of toppers were motivated to crack one of the toughest examinations in the country — the IIT JEE — through a programme organised by FIITJEE, a leading name in JEE coaching in the country.

Fourteen toppers from the institute shared their 'Success Mantras' with students who are aspiring to crack the JEE in the coming years, at a special event organised by FIITJEE at Vile Parle's Bhaidas Auditorium on Monday.

From amongst the top scorers who mentored the students were Mumbai topper Rahul Bhardwaj who secured AIR 20 at the JEE 2017, Preey Shah, Mumbai topper in JEE 2016 with rank 16, Sravya Devulapalli who emerged as the Navi Mumbai girls topper with AIR 595, and Anish Kulkarni who secured an AIR 752 despite undergoing a surgery before the exams and topped from Thane. "The most important thing for students is to never be demotivated under peer pressure. I was an average student before I joined FIITJEE, and have come a long way with the help of my institute," said Rahul Bhardwaj.

Mohit Sardana, Director and head of Mumbai territory, FIITJEE, motivated students by saying, "Courage is not the absence of failure. It is the result of dealing with failure well."

The toppers answered student questions on a whole range of issues that they would be undergoing while preparing for JEE — from poor time management to being pressurised by their peers. "How do you keep yourself motivated to study over a period of time when there are so many concepts to be studied?" asked one of the students to which Preey responded "Instead of merely taking pressure, it is important to like the subject which can be a major motivation for you to study."

While asked about how to keep oneself away from distractions like the Internet, television etc, Anish Kulkarni said "I was really fond of movies but had to give up on watching them after my teachers warned me."
