The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is not going to approach the Supreme Court now and will declare results soon. Sources in the board said that results might be declared on Saturday.

The board had second thoughts on approaching the Supreme Court against the High Court order on their marks moderation policy after their legal advisors told them that it might be “counter-productive”.

A day after officials in the HRD ministry said that the board might approach the apex court to file a Special Leave Petition against the HC order, a meeting of CBSE officials was held with additional solicitor general Sanjay Jain on Thursday evening, where it was decided that this might not be a good idea.

“A detailed discussion was held with the legal team and it has been opined that filing an SLP might be counter-productive for CBSE, hence we are not going to approach the Supreme Court,” a senior official in HRD ministry said.

The board will continue with its marks moderation this year as well before declaring the results.

The HC on Tuesday asked CBSE not to scrap its marks-moderation policy from this year as the policy was put in place after the exams were over. The court said: “Rules cannot be changed after the game has begun”.

This year, the CBSE XII exam started on March 9 and ended on April 29. Over 10 lakh students have appeared for the class XII exams from schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

However, once the result is announced, students can access the result by logging to any of the official websites.
