CBSE Class 12 result 2017: Massive errors reported in totalling exam marks, verification reveals discrepancies

Days after Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 result, huge discrepancies have been reported in the marks, with several students complaining about totaling errors.

The result for the Senior School Certificate Examinations (Class 12) was declared on May 29, however, reevaluation has revealed discrepancies in the marks.

According to Times of India, a Delhi students was horrified when she learnt that she scored mere 68 in mathematics, while above 90 in other subjects.

Marks of two students who scored 42 and 68 in different subjects, went up to in 90s only after they applied to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for reevaluation.

Mohammad Affan, a Mumbai student who scored 80% and above in all his subjects, scored just 50 in maths. After verification, his marks were revised to 90, the report said.

The report said that a senior official with the CBSE exam branch admitted that there were mistakes in the process. He said that the difference could be due to various reasons - detachment of supplementary answer books being one.

Last week, the Orissa High Court asked the CBSE to re-evaluate the answer sheets of at least 159 more students, who approached the court alleging discrepancies in their class XII results.

Whereas the Delhi High Court orally observed that the CBSE ought not have done away with its re-evaluation policy as it also make mistakes in evaluation of answer sheets.
