CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021: Written exams for students not satisfied with evaluation criteria likely in August

The CBSE said in an affidavit to the Supreme Court that the improvement exam for CBSE Class 12 Board Exam will be held from August 15 to September 15.

In a significant development, the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) on Monday (June 21) said that the CBSE will conduct improvement exam for CBSE Class 12 students not satisfied with marks given to them in CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 on the basis of internal assessment. The CBSE said in an affidavit to the Supreme Court that the improvement exam for CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be held from August 15 to September 15. The CBSE also added in its affidavit that the dates are tentative and depend on the prevailining COVID-19 situation in the country.

The CBSE submitted the affidavit to the SC as the apex court was hearing a case on cancelation of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 for those Class 12 students who would be appearing for compartmental exams, NIOS, and repeaters. 

According to CBSE, those students who are not satisfied with CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 results and wish to appear for written exams will need to register online. The registration will be done online at CBSE’s official website - cbse.nic.in.

It is to be noted that CBSE has already asked its affiliated schools to start the evaluation process for preparing CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 result. Schools have been asked by the CBSE to constitute a five-member result committee to be headed by the principal of the school. The committee will prepare the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 results on the basis of marking scheme decided by the CBSE and upload the results on CBSE's official website with the help of IT teams. A portal to upload marks was activated on Monday and the results will release by July 31.

For the evaluation of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 results, the CBSE has decided to give maximum weightage to the 12th exams that includes pre-boards, unit tests, or mid-terms. This will consists of 80 marks.

The CBSE has allocated 20 marks for the practical exams. In subjects, where 70 marks is given for theory, the changes for the pratical marks will be made accordingly. The CBSE will not release any merit list this year.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that JEE Main 2021 and NEET 201 entrance exams dates would soon be declared by the Union Education Ministry. According to a PTI report, the officials at Education Ministry are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation across the country and it is likely that the JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exam would be held on August 1.

It is to be noted that JEE Main is held four times in a year from the current academic session. Sources said that the NEET 2021 entrance exam might get postponed from its scheduled August 1 date due to COVID-19 outbreak.
