10th-12th Exam: UP Board to start pre-board exams, cuts 30% syllabus in view of COVID-19

The UP Board has reduced the syllabus by about 30% for students of Classes 9-12 in view of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak.

Following the example of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Board has also decided to start holding 'Pre Board' examinations for students of Classes 10-12.The first one of such pre-board exams will be held in the third and fourth week of February next year, the board informed.

The UP Board has also reduced the syllabus by about 30% for students of Classes 9-12 in view of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak. 

According to the UP Board spokesperson, schools across the state are closed due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak. In such an atmosphere, online classes are being held via Swayamprabha Channel-22 for students of classes IX and XI,  and via DD Uttar Pradesh for Class X and XII. All divisional joint education directors have also been ordered to send weekly reports of students' studies through virtual schools and e-Gyan Ganga. 

According to the UP board, students' studies through various online and offline means will be completed by 31 January 2021. This will be followed by the 10th-12th Pre-Board Exam for the first time in UP in the third and fourth weeks of February. The responsibility for the preparation of question papers for these examinations, evaluation of students, and ensuring the availability of textbooks have been given to the secretary of the Secondary Education Council.
