COMMENTARY
The trophy is shared by Dhoni and Hafeez who both sport huge smiles. Nice to see that. On that note it brings the curtains down on a wonderful series. Typical India Pakistan stuff and the crowd have loved it to bits. The ODI series starts on the 30th. Do join us then, hope you have enjoyed our thrilling coverage. Until next time make sure you enjoy whatever you are doing. Till then this is goodbye from all of us here. Have a great time. Alvida!
Dhoni: 'A lot depends on the youngster or the bowler who is bowling the last over and they held their nerve nicely. The youngsters were feeling the pressure but executed their yorkers and the slower ones when the field was set for it. First of all we don't know whether there will be dew or not on this so one does not know what is a good score. The good thing was Yuvi getting those sixes and fours. The last venue we had the wicket supporting the bowlers and you come here and it is a flat wicket but that's what the format is all about.'
Hafeez: 'The boys really worked hard to win the series, but during the 2nd stage of the innings we didn't follow the basics. The partnership between MS and Yuvraj was the difference. The 7th to 10th over we didn't bat well and we couldn't finish it off, but still a good game of T20 Cricket. The crowd was exceptionally good and really enjoyed playing here today.'
Hafeez is the Man of the Series for his back to back fifties.
Yuvraj Singh: 'Yesterday I was batting in the nets and I couldn't hit a single ball out of the ground and it was disappointing. But today I did. The yorker from Irfan reminded me of Wasim Akram. Tried to bat through and was hitting the ball well late on. If me and MS always have a partnership, we get a really good score and that helped us win the game. Enjoyed the support over here and hopefully come back and play here. India Pakistan is amazing, we always have had great matches against them and there's lot of passion when both countries play.'
Yuvraj Singh is the Man of the Match for his 36 ball 72.
A cracking game of cricket and India deservedly level the series 1-1. Pakistan started off well and were kept in the hunt by some exceptional batting from their skipper Hafeez but Dinda ensured that India didn't have to worry by taking care of three crucial wickets. Stay tuned for the presentation which will happen shortly.
Those 2 balls changed the entire complexion of the game. The ones that I'm referring to are the ones where first Umar refused the single and then he was bowled next ball. From then on it put immense pressure on Hafeez who succumbed. But still credit must be given to Dinda. He gave away 12 runs off his last two overs and took 3 wickets which ensured Ishant had enough in the tank for the last over.
19.6 Ishant to Umar Gul, out Caught by Rahane!! India win and there are jubiliant scenes all over at Ahmedabad. Umar Gul sliced the last delivery straight down the throat of sweeper cover and the crowd go mental. Umar Gul c Rahane b Ishant 5(5) [4s-1]
Ishant to Umar Gul, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
19.6 Ishant to Umar Gul, wide, Ishant wants this game to go on. Bowls a wide outside off. 12 needed off 1 now
Pak need 13 off one. Just a mere formality now unless a miracle happens and it rarely does
19.5 Ishant to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, Ishant keeps his nerve, full outside off, Shoaib Malik drives it to long off.
Unless Ishant bowls a no-ball or a wide - India should win this. It's pretty obvious, but sometimes even obvious things need to be stated
19.4 Ishant to Umar Gul, 1 run, great ball from Ishant, yorker length outside off, Umar Gul can only drive it to long off
Dhoni walks up to Ishant to have a word. The crowd is on tenter-hooks. Looks like cover has come up. There are two men on the edge of the circle at cover
19.3 Ishant to Umar Gul, FOUR, same ball but this time Umar Gul drilled it wide of cover. No chance for the sweeper. That keeps Pakistan in it, but just
19.2 Ishant to Umar Gul, no run, perfect delivery - full and outside off, just inside the white line , Umar Gul swings and misses. A dot as the Pakistani dug-out look tense and worried
19.1 Ishant to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, low full toss outside off - a good ball from Ishant, Shoaib Malik can only drive it to long off where Rohit keeps it to a single. That's what India want - Malik off strike
end of over
Right Dinda has left 20 for Ishant to contain. Until Shoaib Malik is there Pakistan will hope and believe. Fine leg is up
Ishant Sharma [3.0-0-26-0] is back into the attack
18.6 Dinda to Umar Gul, no run, Yes he can! Nothing much Umar Gul can do. It was full and tailing in late on the stumps, Gul inside edges it back to Dinda who fields. Just 6 and 2 wickets off the over.
Now 20 needed off 7. Umar Gul can strike them big. Can Dinda finish off well?
18.5 Dinda to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, that was a high full toss, took Shoaib Malik by surprise, just opens the face of the bat and steers it straight to the fielder at point who is Yuvraj. A single and Mahendra Singh Dhoni likes it, shows it by clapping at Dinda
Umar Gul, right handed bat, comes to the crease
18.4 Dinda to Kamran Akmal, out Caught by Virat Kohli!! Kamran Akmal c Virat Kohli b Dinda 5(3) [4s-1]
18.4 Dinda to Kamran Akmal, out Caught by Virat Kohli!! What a game! A wicket, boundary and now a wicket off the last three balls. Kamran Akmal hit that well but had to get it still wide of Virat at long off, he failed to do so and that's a calm catch under pressure from the Delhi boy who went to his left and snaffled it. Dinda gets his third. More twists in store? Kamran Akmal c Virat Kohli b Dinda 5(3) [4s-1]
Dinda to Kamran Akmal, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
18.3 Dinda to Kamran Akmal, FOUR, Pakistan won't give up! Kamran Akmal picks the slower delivery and waits for it, before slashing it square of the wicket on the off side where the sweeper isn't there. A boundary and that brings more pressure on Dinda
Shoaib Malik, right handed bat, comes to the crease
18.2 Dinda to Hafeez, out Caught by Raina!! That could well be the game! Hafeez c Raina b Dinda 55(26) [4s-6 6s-3]
18.2 Dinda to Hafeez, out Caught by Raina!! That could well be the game! Good bowling, full and speared into leg stump, Hafeez failed to get under the ball which meant that he could only loft it without any timing or power to the right of Raina at long on who won't drop those. Dinda roars and the crowd does too - everyone knows how big a wicket that is. Hafeez c Raina b Dinda 55(26) [4s-6 6s-3]
Dinda to Hafeez, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Dinda needs to get his length right here to Hafeez
18.1 Dinda to Kamran Akmal, 1 run, slower delivery on the stumps, Kamran Akmal lofts it to long off. Hafeez wanted the 2nd, but the fielder was quick
end of over
Now 26 needed off 12. From an Indian viewpoint they need to get Hafeez out or else the game might be Pakistan's. Dinda to bowl the 19th over
17.6 Bhuvneshwar to Hafeez, FOUR, unbelievable cricketing sense from Hafeez. He saw that third man was brought in, knew the length was there to be playing that kind of a shot and expertly steered it to the right of a diving short third, had to beat point to his left and did that too. What batting and what composure from the Pak skipper
Kamran Akmal, right handed bat, comes to the crease
17.5 Bhuvneshwar to Shahid Afridi, out Caught by Rohit Sharma!! Big wicket! Low full toss outside off, Afridi hit it low and flat to long off where Rohit takes a smart catch. That should have been put into the crowd, but that's what pressure can do to you. Shahid Afridi c Rohit Sharma b Bhuvneshwar 11(5) [4s-1 6s-1]
Bhuvneshwar to Shahid Afridi, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Equation - 30 off 14 - definitely possible. There is a slight delay as there is a drink brought on
17.4 Bhuvneshwar to Shahid Afridi, SIX, Blast Blast from Boom Boom! Bhuvneshwar is bowling too many slower ones and Shahid Afridi picks it, just lofts cleanly over long on - lots of height on that and when it came down it landed in the crowd
17.3 Bhuvneshwar to Hafeez, 1 run, on a length, Hafeez fails to time it well and it goes down to long on, only a single
17.2 Bhuvneshwar to Hafeez, FOUR, a wonderful fifty for the Pakistan skipper.
17.2 Bhuvneshwar to Hafeez, FOUR, a wonderful fifty for the Pakistan skipper. 2nd fastest for Pakistan as well. This time he reads the slower delivery and flat bats it straight down the ground, bisects the two men on the fence, beating a desperate dive from long on. Will he take Pakistan home? That's the big question
17.1 Bhuvneshwar to Hafeez, no run, a dot to start the over. Slower delivery outside off, Hafeez tries to drive over cover and misses
end of over
