COMMENTARY
That's all we have for you tonight. Hop over to the other tab to catch all the action from the second Test between South Africa and New Zealand. Till then, goodbye.
James Tredwell: 'If the batsman plays a good shot, then hard luck , but I was just executing my skills. Raina bowled pretty well and I just tried to copy him. We got wickets at the right time and that helped us. The batsmen while going for their shots might play into your hands. Most of the stadiums in India have been fantastic.'
James Tredwell is the Man of the Match.
Alastair Cook: 'It was a good win. Everyone in the dressing room is proud of it. We made the most of winning the toss. If one of the batsmen had gotten to a big hundred we could have gotten to 340, but Samit batted really well. To defend 325 on this pitch, it was a very good effort. India kept coming at us, but we picked wickets at the right time. Tredwell did well to take 4 wickets on that pitch. It's pretty much the same attack that we had in 2011. Hope the players can grow as the tour progresses.'
MS Dhoni: 'We should have got to the target. It was a fast outfield. Maybe I should have batted a few more overs. There was a situation in the middle when it looked like they would get to 340. The spinners bowled well. Yes, we were costly in the final overs, but this is a new batch of bowlers. If you don't get your yorkers right, they will make you pay. We did not convert the good starts properly. With me and Raina in the middle, it did look really easy, especially with the new rules. Once he got out, followed by me, it became difficult.'
India will look back at the last two overs which went for 38 runs. Apart from that, there was nothing much to separate between the teams. Except Kohli, all the recognised batsmen got going and looked like playing a big knock while they were in the middle. Yuvraj and Raina played gorgeous strokes, but got out at crucial junctures. Dhoni got the crowd going with 4 sixes, but hit one straight to the fielder. Indeed that was the story of the innings as most of the batsmen gifted away their wickets. For England, it was off-spinner James Tredwell who was a revelation as he brought up his best ODI figures. Dernbach was costly, but picked up the big wicket of Dhoni.
49.6 Dernbach to Bhuvneshwar, 1 run, superb slower delivery on the leg stump, Bhuvneshwar plays it to third man for a single. Dernbach exults, England have won their first ODI match against India on Indian soil in 7 years.
49.5 Dernbach to Ishant, 1 run, full and outside off, Ishant pushes it through cover for a single.
49.4 Dernbach to Bhuvneshwar, 1 run, yorker length delivery on middle, Bhuvneshwar can do nothing much but squeeze it back to the bowler who tries to stop, but can't. The ball hits the stumps at the non-strier end and the batsmen cross for single
49.3 Dernbach to Ishant, 1 run, full and outside off, Ishant goes for the drive, gets a thick outside edge. Kieswetter does well as he dives to his right and gets a hand to it, saves a certain boundary. Single taken.
49.2 Dernbach to Ishant, no run, low full toss outside off, Ishant misses it as he tries to drive. He should have made contact on that one.
49.1 Dernbach to Ishant, FOUR, that has gotten Cook thinking. Full and outside off, Ishant goes for the slashing drive, gets a thick outside edge which runs past the keeper to the third man fence. 14 off 5.

Finn to Ashwin, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
47.2 Finn to Ashwin, FOUR, the mid on is inside the circle and that's a good shot. Good length delivery on middle, Ashwin came down the track and lofted it over the mid on fielder, it rolled away to the fence.
47.1 Finn to Bhuvneshwar, 1 run, good length delivery outside off, Bhuvneshwar plays a good drive straight to cover. Ashwin ran across for the single, Bhuvneshwar had no chance of making it and had given up. But luckily for him, the throw was not on the stumps.

46.5 Bresnan to Bhuvneshwar, 2 runs, another yorker length delivery outside off, Bhuvneshwar opens the face and guides it past backward point, the third man does well to slide to his right and keeps the batsmen to a couple

46.3 Bresnan to Bhuvneshwar, 1 run, short and outside off, Bhuvneshwar dabs his bat down at that, plays it in front of backward point for a single

46.1 Bresnan to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR, back of a length delivery outside off, Bhuvneshwar makes room and punches it through the gap in the cover region, beats the sweeper cover fielder with ease. That looked like a proper cricketing stroke
