Highlights
Australia innings
Bhuvneshwar to Warner, FOUR, Warner off the mark with a boundary, some width on offer this time, he goes back and steers it wide of gully to the vacant third man region
Bhuvneshwar to Warner, byes, FOUR, poor from Bhuvneshwar, poor from Dhoni. Way too wide down the leg side, Dhoni moves across but doesn't bend enough - the ball goes through
Bhuvneshwar to Warner, out Bowled!! Bhuvneshwar! What a delivery - that's his first Test wicket. He has bowled a number of outswingers today but gets this one to dart back in a touch after pitching, Warner was expecting the away going delivery and was rooted in his crease, but the ball nips in, takes the inside edge and uproots the leg stump. Very similar to the way he got Nasir Jamshed in his T20I debut. Warner b Bhuvneshwar 6(8) [4s-1]
Ishant to Ed Cowan, FOUR, good shot but Ishant shouldn't mind that. He pitched this up on middle stump line and got Cowan on the frontfoot, but the batsman was up to the task and drove it down to long off, off the mark with a boundary
Bhuvneshwar to Ed Cowan, out Lbw!! Bhuvneshwar has another one but he should thank umpire Erasmus for this one! The openers are gone, but Cowan can consider himself unlucky there - that delivery pitched outside leg. It was short of length and skidded on after pitching, kept low as well, Cowan couldn't bend enough and missed it completely - the ball would have crashed into middle of middle stump but that doesn't matter once it pitches outside leg. Start the DRS debate! Ed Cowan lbw b Bhuvneshwar 4(13) [4s-1]
Bhuvneshwar to Shane Watson, FOUR, what a shot! And he has made it look so easy. Full delivery on off, Watson gets to the pitch of the ball with a long stride and drives it straight down the ground to the long off fence. Always great to see - the straight drive
Ishant to Hughes, FOUR, not very convicing from Hughes but he'll take it, back of a length and outside off, Hughes pokes away from the body and guides it between the slips and gully to third man, Jadeja chases but cannot get there
Ishant to Hughes, FOUR, rubbish delivery and Hughes gives it the treatment. Full and way too wide outside off, Hughes pounces on the width and drives it away hard to the sweeper cover fence. Poor delivery
Bhuvneshwar to Hughes, FOUR, superbly executed. Not a bad ball at all - this was full and outside off - anyone else would have played it off the frontfoot but Hughes goes back and steers it wide of gully for a boundary to third man
Ishant to Shane Watson, FOUR, risk free but superbly executed lofted shot! Length delivery on middle, Watson goes through with a firm push but deliberately lofts it over mid on, didn't go hard at that but cleared the man easily
Ishant to Hughes, FOUR, Hughes is looking positive, Ishant is looking ineffective. Width on offer and Hughes drives it away to sweeper cover, good footwork and placement
Bhuvneshwar to Shane Watson, FOUR, there are two mid wickets in place but Watson has hit this right between them! Brilliant placement. Flicks this one off the pads to the left of mid wicket and wide of the other fielder there
Bhuvneshwar to Shane Watson, FOUR, Watson is looking very good today. Back of length fuller length just outside off, Watson stays back and cuts it away to third man for another boundary
Bhuvneshwar to Shane Watson, out Lbw!! Bhuvneshwar has his third wicket! And this is a huge one! Watson is disappointed but he cannot blame the umpire this time - Erasmus has got this one right. This was short of length and pitched outside off, Watson went for the pull but the ball skidded on and kept low, he was bending down and the ball hit him on the back thigh around off stump. That was plumb, and Australia are in trouble once again. Shane Watson lbw b Bhuvneshwar 23(31) [4s-4]
Bhuvneshwar to Michael Clarke, FOUR, lovely shot to get off the mark. Full and down the leg side, Clarke flicks it to deep backward square leg, that's a bit of a gift to the new batsman
Ashwin to Hughes, out Caught by Dhoni!! Nearly dropped but Dhoni takes it on the second attempt! Good bowling from Ashwin - tosses this one up and gets it to turn and bounce, Hughes went for the cut and got a thick edge, it popped out of Dhoni's gloves initially but he recovered quickly and dived to his left to take it just before it went down. He seemed in pain for a while as he landed on his chest, but he's okay now. Australia are 4 down after opting to bat. Hughes c Dhoni b Ashwin 19(57) [4s-4]
Ishant to Wade, byes, FOUR, nearly bowled! Ishant bowls this one down the leg side from round the wicket, Wade shuffles across way too much and misses it, Dhoni misses as well and the ball goes through
Ashwin to Michael Clarke, SIX, Clarke will attack whenever he can. No surprise at all but what a good shot. Down the track in a flash and he smashes it absolutely straight down the ground over the sightscreen. Lovely use of the feet
Ishant to Michael Clarke, FOUR, Ishant bowled a really good last over but has started this one with a loose delivery - short of length and outside off, Clarke goes on the backfoot and cuts it away through covers for a boundary
Bhuvneshwar to Michael Clarke, FOUR, two short mid wickets in place with not so much distance between them but Clarke has picked the smallest of gaps perfectly. This is the definition of placement. Full delivery on the middle and leg, Clarke flicks it right between Sehwag and Kohli. They both look at each other. The ball has already gone past them. Brilliant!
Harbhajan to Wade, FOUR, Wade on the attack! Comes down the track and blasts it down to long on, hits it in the air deliberately and clears the mid on fielder easily
Harbhajan to Wade, FOUR, fired in quickly outside off, Wade goes on the backfoot and slashes it away, it goes wide of backward point and into third man for four. That's the 50 run partnership
Ishant to Michael Clarke, FOUR, in the air but safe! And four. Length ball on middle, Clarke pushes at it and the ball goes in the air but wide of the bowler, it races away to long on
Ishant to Michael Clarke, FOUR, just over point! Clarke is suddenly living dangerously here. A bit of width and he goes after it with a cut shot, gets it just over Jadeja at point for a boundary
Ravindra Jadeja to Wade, FOUR, Wade is growing in confidence. He comes down the track, gets to the pitch and lofts this straight down the ground for a boundary
Ashwin to Wade, FOUR, slightly short from Ashwin and Wade does not miss out. He makes room and punches it neatly in the gap to the sweeper cover fence
Ravindra Jadeja to Michael Clarke, 1 run, yet another fifty for the skipper. It was tossed up by Ravindra Jadeja. Clarke comes down and drives it down to long off. he has delivered once again when Australia needed him too
Ashwin to Wade, FOUR, skidding on outside leg, Wade goes back to pull but gets it very, very fine. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, at short fine leg, dives but does not manage to stop
Ashwin to Michael Clarke, no run, looks like a catch dropped by Pujara at short leg. Clarke danced down the track, got an inside edge onto the pads and it lobbed up in front of Pujara. He got a hand on it but does not latch on. That is just very poor catching. Ashwin is clearly not impressed
Ravindra Jadeja to Michael Clarke, 1 run, the partnership between Michael Clarke and Wade is now 100, floated up nicely, Clarke comes down and drives it wide of mid off for one more
Ashwin to Wade, FOUR, Ashwin loses his length after four good deliveries. He pushes it quicker and drags it short as well. Wade cuts it neatly past point and does not allow Ashwin to get on top
Ashwin to Wade, 1 run, tossed up and very full, Wade drives it down to long off and brings up his 3rd Test fifty. It has been a gritty innings. Warm applause across the ground too and Michael Clarke jogs across to pump fists
Ashwin to Michael Clarke, FOUR, floated up and well outside off now, Clarke skips down nicely, reaches out and lofts it wide of the long off boundary. Excellent batting this
Ashwin to Michael Clarke, FOUR, now Ashwin tosses it up even further, Clarke takes a couple of steps down, converts it into a full toss and drills it through cover. Clarke is putting pressure on India's best bowler.
Ravindra Jadeja to Michael Clarke, FOUR, Clarke is toying with the length and the fields set. He comes down the track, gets to the pitch and neatly flicks it through square leg
Ashwin to Wade, FOUR, good timing from Wade but not great fielding. Wade drove a full length delivery firmly past Michael Clarke. Tendulkar runs across from mid on and dives a little too early
Harbhajan to Michael Clarke, FOUR, a bit of drift in but finishing on leg. Clarke manages to trickle it very fine and picks up a boundary. Harbhajan will not mind that too much
Harbhajan to Wade, FOUR, Wade does very well again. He comes down the track to throw Harbhajan off rhythm and lofts it nicely to the long off fence. Top shot
Harbhajan to Wade, out Caught by Bhuvneshwar!! Bhuvneshwar is having an excellent day. Excellent catch at backward point now. It was dragged short by Harbhajan, Wade went back to cut hard but does not keep it down. Bhuvneshwar lunges out to his left and takes it with both hands just above the ground. That would please any regular at backward point. Superb catch to end a superb partnership. Wade c Bhuvneshwar b Harbhajan 62(144) [4s-8]
Harbhajan to Henriques, FOUR, Harbhajan could have easily had another one. Turning on the leg, Henriques glances it fine and it races past even before Kohli, at leg slip, could react
Ravindra Jadeja to Henriques, out Bowled!! The bowling change has worked wonderfully well. Ravindra Jadeja was going to take the ball away and this was an absolute beauty. It was nicely tossed up on middle stump, Henriques presses forward to try and work it on the onside but misses. The ball turns past the outside edge and bangs into the top of middle stump. India back on top again. Henriques b Ravindra Jadeja 5(22) [4s-1]
Ravindra Jadeja to Glenn Maxwell, FOUR, that would release the pressure and ease Maxwell's nerves. A real gift. Short and outside off. Maxwell gets back to cut it hard through cover
Ravindra Jadeja to Glenn Maxwell, FOUR, Maxwell wants to get on top of Ravindra Jadeja. He comes down the track for a big hit but ends up dragging it wide of mid on. Harbahajan sprawls across but does not get close to the ball. Harbhajan did land on his head and was down for a bit but gets back up quickly
Ravindra Jadeja to Glenn Maxwell, out Caught by Dhoni!! A very big edge and it has stuck on just at the edge of Dhoni's gloves. Maxwell was looking to make extra room and force it through the offside but only managed a thick outside edge. Second wicket for Ravindra Jadeja and Australia are going down quickly. Glenn Maxwell c Dhoni b Ravindra Jadeja 13(22) [4s-2]
Harbhajan to Siddle, out Lbw!! Siddle is caught in the crease and that was plumb. It was turning in big but shooting through low. Siddle was standing back and the ball strikes the back leg in front of middle and leg. Easy decision for Erasmus and wickets continue to tumble after tea. Siddle lbw b Harbhajan 0(14)
Ravindra Jadeja to Michael Clarke, out Bowled!! Horrible shot from Clarke. He was looking to score quickly and he has just tried to sweep a delivery that was not too full. The ball skids on, keeps low and goes under the bat to crash into the stumps. Nothing going Australia's way now. Michael Clarke b Ravindra Jadeja 91(186) [4s-9 6s-1]
Ravindra Jadeja to Doherty, no run, catch dropped by Dhoni. It was a tough one. The ball skidded on and took the outside edge but Dhoni does not latch on. He's had a few of those today
India innings
Siddle to Sehwag, FOUR, the crowd was waiting for it and Sehwag obliges. A full delivery outside off, Sehwag reaches out and slashes it between the slip cordon and gully to get off the mark in trademark fashion
James Pattinson to Vijay, FOUR, not where he intended but he'll take those runs. Vijay is lucky there - Pattinson bowls a short delivery after bowling a couple of full ones, Vijay was looking to poke at it initially but decided late to withdraw the bat, ends up doing a bit of both and the ball goes off the face of the bat over the slips
Siddle to Sehwag, out Caught by Wade!! Sehwag is gone. Yet another failure. But credit to the bowler for this delivery. Hits the deck hard at the good length spot around off and gets the ball to bounce big, Sehwag was rooted to his crease and looked to defend but got a thick edge to the keeper. It was fairly obvious that Sehwag had got an edge but Siddle didn't seem to realise it. Wade and the rest of the slip cordon went up in appeal and much to the surprise of Siddle, Dharmasena raises his finger. Sehwag c Wade b Siddle 6(19) [4s-1]

Glenn Maxwell to Pujara, 2 runs, a look of delight as Pujara hobbles back for the second. Sliding on outside off, Pujara plays it late and dabs it through third man. He was struggling to run but manages to push himself to get there. The crowd raises to salute the gritty effort. This is his 4th Test hundred, 1st against the Aussies and the 2nd consecutive ton on this ground. Well played indeed.

James Pattinson to Vijay, FOUR, Steven Smith fields the ball outside the ropes. Nothing going Australia's way as this was a genuine edge. Vijay pushed at one outside off and edged it but there was no slip, the runs continue to flow
Siddle to Vijay, FOUR, wait for the loose one and put it away. That's been the mantra for these two in this partnership. But this was by no means a bad ball, just a great shot. Length delivery with just a bit of width outside off, Vijay leans and punches it on the up between cover and extra cover. Superb shot!
Siddle to Vijay, 1 run, 150 for Murali Vijay. Works it to mid on and runs across for a quick single - the dressing room stands up and applauds, so does the crowd. He is pumped up as well - this is his first 150 in Test cricket.
Doherty to Pujara, FOUR, shot! Not so short but Pujara rocks back quickly and punches it away to the deep backward point fence. Huge vacant spaces there and Pujara makes use of it
Siddle to Vijay, FOUR, more runs, more boundaries. Back of length and just away from the off stump, Vijay waits back and guides it wide of the keeper and into the third man fence. That will be drinks
Doherty to Pujara, FOUR, this is becoming too easy now. Short and wide delivery, Pujara goes back and cuts it really hard between point and covers. Too easy

Glenn Maxwell to Pujara, FOUR, the fielders are mere ball-boys here. Short and very wide outside off, Pujara rocks back and smashes the cut between cover and point. Pujara is one hit away from a double century
Glenn Maxwell to Vijay, out Caught by Ed Cowan!! First Test wicket for Glenn Maxwell and FINALLY the partnership is broken. From round the wicket and pitches on middle, it hits the surfaces and bounces a lot more than Vijay expects it to, he was hanging on the backfoot and it went off the thick inside edge to leg slip. Superb knock from Murali Vjay - one that could change his Test career for the good - comes to an end. The crowd is roaring in delight though, because Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar will finally come out to bat. Vijay c Ed Cowan b Glenn Maxwell 167(361) [4s-23 6s-2]
Glenn Maxwell to Pujara, FOUR, gets to his 2nd double century in Test cricket in style! Comes down the track to the pitch of the ball and whips it with all his wrists wide of mid on, removes his helmet even as the ball races away to the fence and sports a huge smile on his face. His wife, the dressing room and the entire crowd give him a standing ovation. What a knock! Just his 11th Test but he has already had 2 double centuries - one against England and one against Australia.
James Pattinson to Pujara, out Caught by Doherty!! The short ball gets Pujara. A bouncer on middle and leg stump line, Pujara swivels and hooks but hits it straight to fine leg, a good low catch by Doherty diving forward and that ends a marathon knock from India's latest number 3. He walks out to a standing ovation - a well deserved one. The Australian players, Pattinson in particular, congratulate Pujara for the knock as well. Pujara c Doherty b James Pattinson 204(341) [4s-30 6s-1]
Glenn Maxwell to Virat Kohli, FOUR, 1000 Test runs for Virat Kohli now. And he gets there in a stylish way. Loopy delivery outside off, he reaches out and drives it through the vacant cover region for four. India's 400 up as well.
James Pattinson to Tendulkar, FOUR, width on offer and Tendulkar makes use of it. Short and wide outside off, keeps a bit low but Tendulkar bends and reaches out to steer it wide of backward point, there's no third man so it races away
James Pattinson to Tendulkar, out Caught by Wade!! James Pattinson is appealing for a caught behind but the umpire is not interested. Hold on. The umpire is suddenly checking with the square leg umpire. They will go upstairs. Erasmus is the umpire - he was initially not interested but after seeing the confident appeal from Pattinson, decides to have a check. Remember: you can check with the third umpire on whether the catch is clean, but if the third umpire sees that there is no edge, he can communicate that to the on-field umpire. The catch is surely clean. Was there an edge? It's hard to say. There was a very small sound. Here's the description of the delivery: this was good length but angled in down the leg side, Tendulkar looks to help it to fine leg, there was a slight sound as the ball went past the bat and the third umpire has given him out. Quite a dramatic way to be given out as well - the third umpire didn't even wait for the snicko and went with the sound. But the right decision has been made in the end. Late replays show that there was a mark on the snicko. Tendulkar c Wade b James Pattinson 7(15) [4s-1]
Doherty to Dhoni, FOUR, Dhoni continues from where he left in Chennai. Sees the flight and lofts it over mid off. So easy, isn't it? 4 runs.
Doherty to Dhoni, FOUR, and this time Dhoni expects the shorter delivery and stays back, waits for it to come on and smashes the cut between cover and point for another boundary
Doherty to Dhoni, FOUR, not in complete control but he gets another boundary, this one spins away sharply, Dhoni throws his bat at it and gets a thick edge past slip to third man, hat-trick of 4s
Doherty to Dhoni, FOUR, what happened there? Australia won't like this. Not because it went for four but because of what the pitch did there. It hit the good length spot on off stump channel and kept very very low, Dhoni had to bend and keep it away, got a thick edge that rolled through Clarke's legs at slip
Siddle to Dhoni, FOUR, well executed. And good placement. Back of length and just outside off, Dhoni stays back and allows the ball to come to him, then uses his wrists and steers it between gully and point to third man
Siddle to Dhoni, FOUR, Dhoni is on the attack. Lead over 200 now for India. This is clever batting - he came down the track last ball and forced Siddle to bang it short, waited on the backfoot and pulled him away to the deep backward square leg fence
Glenn Maxwell to Dhoni, FOUR, Dhoni is waiting for the flighted deliveries so Maxwell bowls it flat, but this one is too wide outside off and Dhoni cuts it away wide of backward point. Dhoni in fact played it with one hand - his bottom hand came off as he stretched out! Such is his power
Glenn Maxwell to Dhoni, FOUR, clever stuff from Dhoni. He threatens to take a step out of his crease and once again forces Maxwell to bowl short, and then goes back quickly and steers it away wide of backward point to the third man fence. He's toying with them now
Glenn Maxwell to Dhoni, out Caught by Doherty!! SMASHED! But straight to the fielder. Dhoni comes down the track and gets a bit too close to the ball, hammers it hard but doesn't get the elevation, ends up hitting it straight to mid off. Doherty nearly dropped it - the ball popped out but he held on in the second attempt. That wicket could make a big difference to India's scoring rate. Dhoni c Doherty b Glenn Maxwell 44(43) [4s-8]
Glenn Maxwell to Virat Kohli, FOUR, width and four. Short and wide outside off, Kohli goes on the backfoot and cuts it away to sweeper cover for an easy boundary
Henriques to Virat Kohli, FOUR, class from Kohli. Sees the overpitched delivery, comes on the frontfoot and drives it down to long on, always great to see when the drives are executed like that
Glenn Maxwell to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR, good way to get off the mark. Tossed up delivery and Jadeja dances down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and drives it down to long on
Glenn Maxwell to Ravindra Jadeja, SIX, Jadeja has the license to go after the bowling. Dances down the track to the pitch of the ball and lofts it over long off, safe shot because mid off was inside
Glenn Maxwell to Ravindra Jadeja, out Caught&Bowled!! Superb catch by Maxwell. That's his 3rd wicket. Nicely tossed up delivery inviting Jadeja to go for the big shot again, Jadeja does just that as he comes down the track and smashes it hard, but straight back. The ball popped out of Maxwell's hands because of the power behind the shot but he recovers well and dives back to take it before the ball hits the ground. Jadeja fails to contribute with the bat again. Ravindra Jadeja c and b Glenn Maxwell 10(13) [4s-1 6s-1]
Glenn Maxwell to Ashwin, no run, catch dropped by Cowan. Ashwin is lucky first ball. Flighted ball on the off, Ashwin prods forward to defend and it goes straight off the glove to short leg where Cowan drops it. Poor effort - that was pretty straightforward
Doherty to Ashwin, out Caught by Hughes!! Another wicket. That's Doherty's first. Flat delivery pitches on off and turns away, there is a bit of extra bounce as well, Ashwin looks to defend and it goes off the glove to second slip. Erasmus checked with the third umpire for a no ball but it was not. Australia are striking now, but a bit too late? Ashwin c Hughes b Doherty 1(5)
Doherty to Harbhajan, out Caught by Glenn Maxwell!! Once again an Indian batsman has hit the ball well but straight to the fielder. First Dhoni, then Jadeja and now Harbhajan. Flighted delivery and he smashes it straight to mid off. Out for a duck as Virat Kohli watches from the other end. Harbhajan c Glenn Maxwell b Doherty 0(6)
Glenn Maxwell to Virat Kohli, out Caught by Ed Cowan!! What a catch! Cowan dropped a simple catch off Ashwin but has held on to a real tough one here. Loopy delivery on the legs, Kohli comes out of his crease and looks to flick, the ball takes the inner half of the bat and goes to the left of leg slip but Cowan sticks out his left hand and takes a superb low catch. Suddenly, Glenn Maxwell has 4 to his name and India are one wicket away from being bowled out. Virat Kohli c Ed Cowan b Glenn Maxwell 34(92) [4s-3]
Glenn Maxwell to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR, harsh to call that a missed stumping. Bhuvneshwar comes down the track and throws his bat at it, he misses but gets a slight inside edge which goes past Wade to the fine leg fence. Bhuvneshwar was well out of his crease but Wade had no chance there
Doherty to Bhuvneshwar, FOUR, 500 up for India. Bhuvneshwar comes down the track and lofts it straight over the bowler's head and wide of mid on. Useful runs these
Doherty to Bhuvneshwar, out Stumped!! Maxwell will not get 5 on debut. Bhuvneshwar comes down the track and looks to go inside out over extra cover but is beaten by the turn, easy stumping for Wade. India have collapsed in this session but the Vijay-Pujara partnership has given them a big lead. Bhuvneshwar st Wade b Doherty 10(18) [4s-2]
Australia innings
Bhuvneshwar to Ed Cowan, leg byes, FOUR, wrong line and Australia are off the mark, drifts down the leg side, goes off the thigh pad to fine leg for four leg byes
Ashwin to Warner, FOUR, good start for Warner, not so much for Ashwin. Not too short, not too wide, but Warner goes on the backfoot and cuts it, didn't hit it powerfully but timed it well through point
Ashwin to Warner, FOUR, Dhoni isn't impressed - he shows his disapproval immediately after Warner plays that shot. Quick and short outside off, Warner goes on the backfoot and cuts it to sweeper cover for four more
Ashwin to Warner, FOUR, Ashwin is not getting it right in his first over. A full toss now and Warner whips it away to deep mid wicket, 3 boundaries in the over for Warner
Bhuvneshwar to Warner, no run, catch dropped by Kohli. Hit hard but it went straight to him. This was a short ball outside off, Warner cuts it hard and it goes straight to Kohli chest high at gully, he cannot hold on. Will this prove to be costly?
Bhuvneshwar to Ed Cowan, no run, catch dropped by Dhoni this time. Tough but you expect those to be taken. Superb delivery from Bhuvneshwar Kumar - once again he gets it to nip in after pitching, surprises Cowan and induces the inside edge, Dhoni moves across to his right and dives but the ball hits his wrists. Would have been a superb catch had he taken it but that goes down as a chance
Bhuvneshwar to Warner, byes, FOUR, this pitch continues to trouble Dhoni behind the wicket. Back of length and keeps low, goes past Warner and pitches well in front of Dhoni, who cannot hold on
Bhuvneshwar to Ed Cowan, FOUR, poor delivery and Cowan punishes it, short and wide outside off, Cowan cuts it away wide of gully to square third man
Ashwin to Ed Cowan, FOUR, poor delivery - short and wide outside off, Ed Cowan goes on the backfoot and cuts it away to deep backward point, easy runs those
Harbhajan to Ed Cowan, FOUR, flighted delivery outside off but it falls short, Cowan stays back and cuts it to deep backward point, he plays that shot really well. Not the best of starts for Harbhajan
Ashwin to Warner, SIX, Warner was showing signs of impatience in the last over and he has hit a 6 first ball here. Loopy delivery on the off, Warner comes down the track and lofts him over long off. Big and easy! Merv Hughes, who is in the stands there, takes a catch and celebrates!
Ashwin to Warner, out Bowled!! The change of angle has worked - Ashwin was bowling round the wicket for most part of this spell but switched over the wicket just a couple of balls back! Warner is bowled round his stumps. Flat, very full and spinning in a bit from outside leg, Warner missed a sweep and the leg stump is uprooted. Yet again, an Australian batsman fails to convert his start. Warner b Ashwin 26(56) [4s-3 6s-1]
Ashwin to Hughes, out Bowled!! A repeat of the Warner dismissal. He changes the angle to over the wicket and strikes immediately! Another Australian perishes to the sweep - this one pitches outside leg as well and spins in a bit, Hughes looks to sweep, gets hit on the glove and the ball rolls back to hit the stumps. Ashwin is delighted - that's his second wicket. Hughes b Ashwin 0(9)
Ashwin to Shane Watson, SIX, that's some way to get off the mark. Sees a nicely tossed up delivery and jumps out of his crease, lofts it way over long off for a maximum
Ashwin to Ed Cowan, FOUR, loose delivery and that gets the treatment. A full toss on the legs, Cowan sweeps it wide of a diving backward square leg fielder - Ishant Sharma
Ishant to Shane Watson, out Caught by Dhoni!! Ishant strikes! That's a good catch by Dhoni as well. Full delivery that curves in from middle to leg stump, Watson looks to glance and gets a thick edge which goes down the leg side, Dhoni does well to dive across to his left and takes a sharp catch. Ishant is elated - that's his first wicket of the series and also the early wicket that India wanted today. Watson is not having a great time in India. Shane Watson c Dhoni b Ishant 9(35) [6s-1]
Ravindra Jadeja to Michael Clarke, SIX, that's much needed, that breaks some shackles. Comes down the track and lofts him over long off, neat strike!
Ravindra Jadeja to Ed Cowan, FOUR, a bit short again and this time outside off as well, Cowan goes on the backfoot and cuts it to deep backward point, lots of vacant spaces there, easy four
Ashwin to Ed Cowan, FOUR, poor delivery and Cowan is growing in confidence, the runs are coming as well. Short and slow outside off, Cowan rocks back and slaps it to sweeper cover
Ravindra Jadeja to Michael Clarke, out Bowled!! What a ball. WHAT. A. BALL! You need a delivery like that to get the best batsman in the opposition out. Flat, angles in, hits middle stump channel around good length spot, draws Clarke forward, and then spins across past his defence to uproot off. What a delivery! Is that the end of Australia? Michael Clarke b Ravindra Jadeja 16(31) [6s-1]
Ravindra Jadeja to Ed Cowan, out Caught by Sehwag!! Cowan is not happy with the decision at all! He is shaking his head as he walks off. This was flat and just outside off, Cowan goes on the backfoot and looks to cut but gets a thick edge which goes off Dhoni's pads to 1st slip. I'm not sure why Cowan was unhappy - he took a long time to go and looked very disappointed. There was a clear edge though. Jadeja gets another one and Australia have lost half their side. Ed Cowan c Sehwag b Ravindra Jadeja 44(150) [4s-6]
Ashwin to Wade, out Henriques Run Out!! First a ripper to dismiss Clarke. Then gets Cowan. And now runs out Henriques. It's a dream day for Ravindra Jadeja. Suicidal running though - Wade pushes this to cover and sets off, Jadeja is very quick to the ball, fumbles slightly, but recovers very quickly and picks up the ball again, aims at the stumps at the striker's end and hits direct. Henriques was not even in picture. Suicidal running because Australia should know that Jadeja is a very quick fielder. Henriques run out (Ravindra Jadeja) 0(4)
Ravindra Jadeja to Wade, FOUR, a bit too full and Wade puts it away through the vacant extra cover region, gets a good stride forward and drives it away to the fence
Ashwin to Glenn Maxwell, FOUR, is Maxwell going to attack his way out of trouble? Plays a big slog sweep right from off stump channel and hits it to deep backward square leg for a boundary
Ashwin to Glenn Maxwell, out Lbw!! The carrom ball. Maxwell had no clue. This was flighted up and pitched on middle, Maxwell was playing for the one that turns in and plays across the line, the ball pitches and turns towards off stump past his bat and hits the back pad. Absolutely plumb. This could get over soon. Glenn Maxwell lbw b Ashwin 8(22) [4s-1]
Ravindra Jadeja to Siddle, out Caught by Virat Kohli!! Another wicket. 3rd one for Ravindra Jadeja. Flat, quick and turning away a bit, Siddle pokes and edges, the ball hits Dhoni's glove, then his pad and then lobs to second slip where Kohli takes it with his left hand. Will Australia last the session? Siddle c Virat Kohli b Ravindra Jadeja 4(14)
Ashwin to Wade, out Caught by Sehwag!! Yes, this match will get over before lunch. Nicely tossed up delivery from round the wicket, spins away a bit as Wade pokes, the thick edge lobs to first slip. Easiest of catches for Sehwag and Ashwin has his 4th wicket. Australia are one wicket away from an innings loss. Wade c Sehwag b Ashwin 10(28) [4s-1]
Ashwin to James Pattinson, out Lbw!! That's it. Ashwin ends with another 5 wicket haul. Flat and quick delivery on leg stump line, Pattinson misses the defence and is hit right in line. That would have clipped leg. India go up 2-0 in the series. James Pattinson lbw b Ashwin 0(27)
