Deputy General Manager (DGM) of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), AK Singh, was arrested on Monday afternoon for making false claims of corruption against some top officials. Meerut Divisional Commissioner Dr Prabhat Kumar, who also holds the additional charge of the YEIDA Chairman, gave the order for the arrest.

According to the police, a team reached the authority office around 2pm, while Singh was in the Chairman's office. "I called the police and got him arrested because he levelled false allegations against officials," Kumar said.

He further said: "We had filed a complaint and an FIR was lodged in the false complaint cases. Singh had filed false complaints against me and some others officials, including Industries Minister Satish Mahana. So, I got him arrested."

Confirming the report, sub-inspector at the Kasna police station, Satya Prakash, said: "We have arrested AK Singh in connection with an FIR lodged against unidentified persons on August 11. We are questioning him at the Kasna police station."

According to sources, in complaints addressed to Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Singh alleged that an official of the general manager rank was being transferred from Muzaffarnagar to Greater Noida, after Rs 50 lakh exchanged hands as bribe.

Talking about the allegations, Kumar said: "It was revealed in a probe that the complaints were fake. All addresses given in the complaints were also fake. The probe established that Singh filed these complaints to avoid getting transferred."
