After providing high-end diagnostic services free of cost at government hospitals, the Delhi government is soon going to offer x-ray services at 25 polyclinics in various parts of the Capital. The services will be outsourced on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode and will be available for the people visiting these clinics.

Currently, around 30 polyclinics are operational in the national Capital and the government has set a target of 150 such polyclinics in the city. The Delhi government has sanctioned over Rs 1.5 billion to remodel 94 dispensaries into polyclinics.

"The tender has been prepared and will be floated soon. With the inclusion of this facility, many residents who are visiting the polyclinics will be benefitted and they will no longer have to go to a private lab for the diagnostic service. We may also add other services next year," said a senior Delhi government official.

Similarly, the government is also planning to outsource the pharmacy services from eight hospitals in the Capital on PPP mode."The existing pharmacies are overburdened with the patients and at times they fail to take the load. By outsourcing it to a private centre, the residents will be able to purchase the medicines without getting into any hustle," added the official.

Earlier in January, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had launched a scheme called 'Quality Healthcare for All' that included 52 surgeries for which patients can be referred from a government hospital to an empanelled private hospital if the wait time is a month or more.

The government also tied up with private centres to provide high-end diagnostics, such as MRI and PET-CT, that are not available at government hospitals. The scheme had a soft launch last year. According to the government, more than 12,000 people benefitted from it between March and December 2017.
