Women cries gang rape, police arrest four men

Preliminary investigations revealed that initially the woman was hesitant to file a complaint but later on the police obtained a complaint.

A 27-year old woman has alleged that she was gang-raped by four men in South-West Delhi's Uttam Nagar area on Monday. All the four accused were arrested by the police.

The police officials received a call at 3 am on Monday from a local who spotted the woman lying on the road. Later it came to fore that a woman hailing from West Bengal was allegedly gang raped by four persons. The woman told the police that she had hired an auto from Munirka and reached Uttam Nagar.

Preliminary investigations revealed that initially the woman was hesitant to file a complaint but later on the police obtained a complaint. Her medical examination was conducted and an NGO was called for counselling. Her statement was recorded under section 164 of the CrPC and based on her statement four people were arrested.

"A case under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered. Four men identified as Pawan, Neeraj, Sahil, and Sandeep were arrested. While two hail from Panipat, one resides in Gurgaon and another one in Munirka," said a senior police officer.
