A 29-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at her residence in North-East Delhi's Jyoti Nagar area on Saturday morning. The woman had sent out messages to her parents informing them where she had kept the suicide note. She had even written down about the torture by her in-laws on the wall of the room.

According to the police, the deceased identified as Madhubala sent a message to her father around 11:45 am on Saturday informing him that she is ending her life. The woman even alleged torture by her in-laws and husband as a reason for her death. Her father immediately called up the neighbours and asked them to check on her, but by then it was too late and she was found hanging inside the room. She had also written a note with a sketch pen on the walls of her room. Madhubala married Amit in December 2015 and since the marriage lasted less than seven years a magisterial probe has been ordered.

"The woman in her messages to her father had pointed out that she had written a suicide note which would be placed under a mickey mouse soft toy in her room. On her father's instance, a two-page suicide note was recovered from the room. We are examining the note and questioning the family members," said a police official.

Family members of the deceased said that when the wedding took place they had given a Wagon-R car to the groom, however, his parents had demanded money instead to which Madhubala's parents did not agree and decided to give the car. Ever since then she was being troubled for minor issues. A case of dowry death has been registered against the in-laws and the husband. Madhubala's father-in-law is a vice-principal of a government school while her father works with the Delhi Jal Board.
