Woman jumps off 7th floor of college in Delhi's Pitampura area

The victim, identified as Varisha, had completed her graduation in law and worked with a private company.

A 25-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies(VIPS) in Pitampura area of Delhi on Thursday morning. Police are yet to ascertain the cause of the extreme step taken by the victim as no suicide note has been recovered. However, police have found two mobile phones from the bag of the victims.

According to the police, the incident took place around 11.30 am. The victim, identified as Varisha, had completed her graduation in law and worked with a private company. She wanted to continue further studies along with the job to help her family financially. Varisha had applied for law postgraduate course in the college and had gone there to enquire about the classes on the fifth floor of the college. After enquiring about the classes, the woman went to the seventh floor of the building and jumped from there.

Varisha's brother has alleged that his sister was killed and that they will be filing a case in the matter. Meanwhile, police have registered a case of suicide and are carrying on further investigation.

The two phones found from the victim's bag were locked and police are trying to unlock them to search for any clue. Police are also trying to investigate the case form all possible angles.

This is the second incident in two days. On Wednesday, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide inside the washroom of Bharti College, Janakpuri. The girl had allegedly consumed pesticides. No suicide note was recovered from her. Police were trying to look for the mobile phone of the girl which was not found anywhere near her in order to establish if she had spoken to anyone before committing suicide. The victim, identified as Vicky Kumari, was a 3rd year BA program student at the college and lived with her family in West Delhi's Uttam Nagar.
