A pleasant night stroll turned tragic for a couple after the woman was killed when a tree branch fell on her on Tuesday.

Victim Revati Joshi, 51, and her husband DC Joshi, a government officer, were out for a walk after dinner in Rohini's Sector 11 and were going towards a tea stall in the area. According to the police, around 11pm, the weather changed suddenly, and strong wind started blowing. A branch then fell on the two. While Joshi escaped with minor injuries, Revati bore the full brunt of the fall.

"According to eyewitnesses, as soon as the couple arrived under the tree, a branch fell on Revati's head, injuring her critically. It also collided with Joshi, who then collapsed. People from the nearby tea stall and neighbourhood then rushed to them, and dragged them out. Both were rushed to hospital, where Revati died during treatment," a senior police officer said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini, Rishi Pal said a team from the Prashant Vihar police station reached the spot and an autopsy was conducted, after which the body was handed over to the family. "Prima facie, no foul play was found to be involved in the death. A probe, however, is on," the DCP said.
