"They were heading to Misalgadi. When they reached the Lal Kuan area, the iron bars fell over them from a truck moving in from of them," SHO (Kavi Nagar) of Samarjeet Singh said. Locals made a call to the police control room and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital where Sonia was declared dead on arrival, while her husband is being treated in the intensive care unit.
" The cause of the mishap was the potholes on the roads and the overloading of the trucks. Locals have also informed us about the trucks moving without reflectors. We have registered a first information report under sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) against the truck driver, who is absconding, and also against PWD and NHAI officials," Singh added.
