A 24-years-old woman, working as an ARM (Assistant Relation Manager) in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Ghaziabad, suffered severe burn injuries on her shoulder after two unidentified bike-borne assailants hurled acid at her on Tuesday morning. Police said three other persons along with the victim, including two women and a man, also suffered burn injuries as the acid flew everywhere. Police said the family members have lodged a First Information Report against a woman suspecting her of being involved.

According to the police, the incident took place in Sahibabad area near Mohan Nagar Temple on Tuesday morning when the victim was going to office by auto-rickshaw. When the auto-rickshaw was passing near Mohan Nagar Temple, two youths chased the auto on their bike and suddenly one of them threw acid targeting the face of the victim.

“The acid also got sprayed on other four auto-rickshaw passengers and they sustained minor injuries. The victim is hospitalised in Narendra Mohan Hospital while others were discharged after getting first aid at a nearby hospital,” said Rakesh Kumar Singh, Station House Officer, Sahibabad police station.

Police said an FIR has been lodged in the matter and one of the accused is named as Anju, a friend of the victim. Anju has been mentioned as a suspect in the FIR as she and the victim woman were friends but later on, they had some differences and Anju had warned her to teach a lesson.

Police also said the victim had already lodged a complaint against Anju at a police station in Noida as she feared threat to her life from her.

"Based on the complaint given by the family members of the victim, an FIR has been registered and the matter is under investigation. However, no arrest has been done so far," said Singh.

Police have registered a case under section 326A(punishment for acid throwing).
