An official of the Pakistan High Commission was accused of groping a woman in South West Delhi's Sarojini Nagar market on Sunday. Police said that in his defence the officer claimed that the market was over-crowded and he merely brushed past her. The officer later apologised for it and the matter was resolved.

According to the police, the incident took place in the market area of Sarojini Nagar in the evening where the officer had come while the woman was shopping.

"The woman has alleged that the official had touched her inappropriately while walking. She raised an alarm and the police personnel near the market area reached there," said a senior police officer.

Police said that the two were brought to the police station where the official rejected her claims.
"The officer said that he was not even aware that his hand brushed the woman. While giving justification, he said that his hand merely brushed past the woman due to heavy crowd in the market. It was not intentional," said the officer.

The police said that the matter was sorted out after the man apologised to the woman. The police officials also denied media reports that the staffer was detained.
