Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday reiterated that his government will transform the national capital into one of the top five cities in the world, discussing the various problems that affect the city and listing their solutions.

"In five years, we want Delhi to be among the top five cities in the world, and we are confident that we will achieve that. Problems in Delhi are on multiple levels: one is on the city level and the other is also on a societal level. Therefore, the planned decentralisation of funds is required so that problems at colony-levels can be sorted faster," Kejriwal said, while speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

"I am a great believer in human resources. Education and health are two things we want to focus on, apart from corruption. We want to encourage and promote business because that will generate employment in private sector," he added. Speaking of some of the other problems plaguing the city, Kejriwal said that Delhi will find a solution for its water problems, also listing waste management as an issue plaguing the city.

"Delhi will have to find a solution for water on its own. The water level in the Yamuna rises during the rainy season and we are unable to save it; solutions need to be implemented. Solid waste management is another concern which needs to be met. We need to use mechanised sucking machines for cleaning of the city," he said.

"Huge traffic jams are occurring in Delhi. I will write to the Police Commissioner to see if we can do anything to help the police with the traffic issue. In a month of two you will see marshals in every bus in Delhi, to maintain discipline in the buses," he added.
