A 59-year-old woman, who refused to lend money to his younger brother for drugs, was stabbed to death by him with a kitchen knife at her residence in west Delhi's Vikaspuri area on Monday morning. Police have arrested the accused.

According to the senior police officers, it was on Monday around 11:15 am, when a call was received at Vikaspuri police station reporting that a woman has been stabbed. Immediately, as a police team reached the spot, they found a woman, identified as Ashwani, lying in a pool of blood with injuries. The woman was rushed to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital where she was declared brought dead on arrival, police said.

DCP west Vijay Kumar said that a case of murder was registered based on the statement of the deceased woman's mother, who was an eyewitness in the case. "Ashwani's mother Kanta stated that the deceased was stabbed by her younger brother. The man was identified as 33-year-old Latinder," the DCP said.

Police said the mother also stated that Latinder is a drug addict. "His sister used to question him about his bad habits of drugs. Even on Monday, the accused asked her sister for money, to which she refused and an argument started between them. Soon the argument took a violent shape and Latinder, in a fit of rage, went into the kitchen, grabbed the knife and stabbed Ashwani multiple times. Seeing her bleeding profusely, he fled from the spot," police said.

It was later following a raid that the accused was arrested. Ashwani used to live near Latinder's house in Vikas Puri with her husband Jai Dev, who passed away a few years ago.
