Wazirabad Yamuna bridge repair: Traffic police issues advisory

Commuters may have to face a tough time as the old age Wazirabad Yamuna Bridge will be shut for repair and rehabilitation work to be undertaken by the Delhi government's public works department (PWD) from next week in three phases over three months. The Delhi Traffic Police has planned diversion for the same.

According to officials, in the first phase, the repair work of cantilever portion --- pavements (cycle track from Khajuri side to Civil Lines ) will be done for which one carriageway of the bridge will be closed.

"In this regard, the entry of heavy-duty and medium-sized commercial vehicles will be restricted on the Yamuna Bridge till completion of repair work," said a senior traffic officer.

For those coming from Ghaziabad may follow these alternate routes:

1. The heavy vehicles destined for Haryana may use the Loni-Baghpat route.

2. The heavy vehicles destined for Delhi may take Mohan Nagar-Link Road (Vaishali) - NH-24 to enter Delhi as Shahdara flyover is also under repair.

Heavy and medium commercial vehicles coming from Ghaziabad towards Wazirabad Bridge will be diverted by the Delhi Traffic Police from Gagan T-point, Khajuri Flyover and Nanaksar T-point. However, the Ghaziabad Traffic Police have also been informed regarding the restriction of heavy vehicles on Wazirabad Yamuna Bridge who can divert from Mohan Nagar, Hindan R/A and Bhopra Border.
