The Gautam Budh Nagar Police arrested a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head after a brief encounter in the Kasna area of Greater Noida on Sunday afternoon. During cross-firing, the criminal and a police constable sustained bullet injuries and both have been admitted to the hospital for treatment, while one of the criminals managed to flee the spot.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Robin, a native of Meerut who was arrested following a tip-off. Police said that Robin was earlier imprisoned for a kidnapping case of a Greater Noida -based businessman for Rs 3 crore and was wanted for many other criminal cases that were registered against him in various police stations of the district. "We received a tip-off that two persons, with an intention to commit a robbery, are coming to Kasna. Police teams were deployed in the area and during checking under Chuhadpur underpass two suspected tried to flee when they were signalled to stop. When police chased them, they opened fire. The police had to make retaliatory firing in which one of the criminals got a bullet injury while the other somehow managed to flee" said Brijesh Kumar Verma, station house officer, Kasna police station.
Police have seized a Honda Twister motorcycle, a .315 mm country-made pistol and four live cartridges from the possession of the criminal.
