It's not just at weddings or in shopping malls that Delhiites can flaunt their status. Voting for the municipal elections is as good an occasion as any, proved several residents on Sunday.

From donning high-profile brands to reaching the polling booths in luxury cars, Delhiites tried their best to keep up the glamour quotient, showing that voting for the polls "in style" has become yet another status symbol. Aiming to solve the local issues in their area, a group of residents in west Delhi's Rajouri Garden came in an Audi A6 sun-roof to cast their vote. The group of five managed to attract much more attention from the media personnel, who had gathered there to meet Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken, that the leader himself. Posing like celebrities, these gentlemen stole the show from senior political leaders. "Why should only politicians be covered during elections? This is our way to get the attention away from these leaders. All five of us are now roaming in the Capital," car owner Sandeep Sodi said.

Similarly in Nizamuddin (E), where former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had come to vote, another Audi A6 could be seen parked outside the polling booth. A family of six then stepped out of the car and went inside.

Apart from luxury vehicles, exppensive clothes and accessories added to the glamour quotient. Many young girls and boys could be seen flaunting exorbitantly priced sunglasses as they came out to cast their vote.

"Though it is about casting the vote, there is nothing wrong with looking good while doing that. One should always look good. I had decided what I was going to wear a day ahead," Greater Kailash 1 resident Sushmita Singh said.
