The Delhi Police has finalised their charge sheet in the Vivanta Ambassador Hotel sewage treatment plant accident case where three men had died after inhaling toxic gases. Officials said charges will be pressed against the five men including the employees of the hotel and managers of a private firm which was involved in running hotel's sewage treatment plant.

"The charge sheet will be filed under the charges of punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, attempt to commit culpable homicide, and under the relevant sections of Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act," said police sources.

A Vivanta Ambassador hotel spokesperson, however, denied having any knowledge about the charge sheet.

"We have no information on the said query (charge sheet) from authorities. We continue to adhere to the highest standards of safety and compliance," said the spokesperson.

Three of the said accused, say police, are employees of the hotel - its chief engineer, manager, and director, who will be charged for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and attempt to commit culpable homicide. Among the accused are two directors of Eco Pollutech Engineers, the company running the sewage plant. The duo was arrested in connection with the case.

Police says the men who had entered the sewage treatment plant of the hotel, located in an adjacent building, were not given the safety gear. They say reports about the kind of gas and the water are awaited from the Forensic Science Laboratory, Rohini.
