UP industry minister Satish Mahana was sent by UP government to settle builders-buyers’ issues on Thursday, but he failed to satisfy homebuyers. Mahana had visited Noida to hold a meeting with home buyers, developers, and officials to end ongoing flat delivery issues.

Hundred of home buyers on Thursday got agitated after they were not allowed to attend Mahana’s meeting. They raised slogans and threatened to sit on dharna. Police officers had to be sent to pacify the protesters.

“I have asked the officials to settle the issue phase-wise. There must not be any harassment in the name of issuing completion certificate. If we find any official guilty in harassing people, we will initiate action,” Mahana said.

Mahana reached the Noida Authority office in Sector 6 in Noida at 11am and stayed in the authority for seven hours. However, sources said that even after such marathon meetings no consensus could be reached.

Meanwhile, enraged home buyers alleged that “dummy” home buyers were being allowed in the meeting. “The entire meeting was staged. It was related to Noida home buyers, but I know many persons, who have nothing to do with Noida and already have flats in Greater Noida, but are representing Noida’s home buyers. We, who are genuine buyers, are not being allowed to even enter inside the authority,” said Dinesh Mishra, a home buyer protesting outside the authority.

Heated arguments were witnessed between home buyers and police. After a while, authority officials allowed just three to four home buyers to go inside the authority office to attend the meeting.

Mahana first had a meeting with home buyers and officers. In the second round he met the developers, while in the third he discussed the pipeline projects with the authority officials.

Sources said that during the meeting with developers, there was no consensus among the officers on the line of action to settle the issue. One section was opposing the rendering, giving further relief to developers, while another said that giving waiver is the only option to end this problem, which keeps escalating.

“The minister did not have any roadmap. Thirty-nine projects are not delivered due to completion certificate. The minister asked us to issue completion certificates phase-wise and end the issue but till the developers do not clear the dues of the authority, we cannot issue a completion certificate,” said an official.
