To mark its golden jubilee year, the Delhi Crafts Council (DCC) has organised an exhibition which will explore the intersection of modern design and traditional hand skills in the specific context of designing for living spaces.

Named ‘Crafting Design’, the exhibition will feature furniture, installations, lighting fixtures and floor coverings in innovative designs. The artefacts are on display till Sunday at the Visual Arts Gallery in the Habitat Centre.

The products have been designed focusing on the handcrafted process, especially where the indisputable strength of hand skills can be highlighted and recognised by a wider audience.

Reputed designers and architects are participating in the event, with many of them having designed products especially for the exhibition.

Speaking about Crafting Design, a representative of DCC said, “The objective of this creative collaboration is to energise and provide critical new directions to artisans in order to take their work to a much wider platform and to help bring it into the realm of mainstream design.”He added, “It has been made possible with the active collaboration of designers and architects who have worked in a sustained manner with artisans over the years.
