The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is again miffed with the Arvind Kejriwal government over the recently concluded monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha. The opposition party feels it was unsuccessful on many counts, as neither the legislation passed any Bill nor the ruling party indulged in a debate over the National Register of Citizens.

Leader of opposition Vijender Gupta said that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet "throttled" their voice when questioned over important issues involving the NCT of Delhi. "The sole aim of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers was to suppress our voice. We asked questions related to CCTV cameras, pension, women safety and starvation deaths but the government refused to answer any of them," he alleged. According to Gupta, the five-day session was mere eyewash by Kejriwal. "He did not want the House to convene for more than 15-20 minutes. We were prepared to call them out on rampant corruption in his government and that is why he showed hurry to exit the session," the BJP leader claimed.

The BJP also raised the issue of NRC, demanding the AAP to take against Rohingyas staying in the Capital. Acrimonious scenes played out on the last three days in the Assembly, with legislators of both the parties coming to blows over illegal Bangladeshis in Delhi. Gupta alleged that he was "nearly" assaulted by AAP MLAs in the presence of Speaker Ram Niwas Goel when he tried to raise the issue of illegal migrants in his constituency, Rohini. "Kejriwal has flexed his muscle to calm me down because I pointed his failure over starvation death, rape of a two-year-old in his constituency. When I asked him about inflated food bills while he was away on a 'spiritual' sojourn to Bangalore., he threatened to throw me out of the House," Gupta said.

Gupta and former AAP minister Sandeep Kumar were marshalled out of the Delhi Assembly on Friday as both legislators were adamant to have discussions on their respective issues in the House and refused to back down even after being warned.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari also criticised the CM for being an anarchist. "The session was a wasteful exercise. Not a single bill was passed. The CM only wants to indulge in cheap politics. He is the same man who was so fond of debates and now he is shying away from an open house with us because he has so much dirt on him," he said.
