Two snatchers arrested from Dwarka police near Sector 9

The picket team was alerted, who was carrying out an extensive search of vehicles because of the Independence Day.

Two persons accused of snatching have been arrested by the Dwarka police near Sector 9. One of the accused was released on bail on August 9, the police said. A motorcycle and a mobile phone were recovered from their possession.

Near Metro station at Dwarka Sector 9, the patrolling team noticed that two bike-borne persons snatched the mobile phone of a pedestrian, who then raised an alarm. The cops immediately swung into action and chased the motorcycle, who had fled away towards Singhla Sweets. The picket team was alerted, who was carrying out an extensive search of vehicles because of the Independence Day. The motorcycle was stopped and both the snatchers were overpowered, said Anto Alphonse, DCP (Dwarka).

The accused were identified as Gaurav alias Tilu and Raghvendra alias Raghav. The complainant also reached the spot and his mobile phone was recovered, while the motorcycle the accused were riding was impounded.
A case under section 379/356/411/34 of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Dwarka south police station.  On sustained interrogation, it was found that 31-year-old Gaurav is a stubborn snatcher.  He is school dropout and has studied till class 8. Thereafter, he fell into bad company consuming gaanja and liquor.

11 cases

As many as 11 cases of snatching and house theft had been registered against Gaurav in Dwarka South and Chhawla. He was released on bail on August 9. Raghvendra had recently come in contact with Gaurav and both become friends.
