Two robbers held after encounter with police in Indirapuram

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Mohsin Safi and Aamir, who allegedly tried to steal a bike at gunpoint in Indirapuram area.

Two robbers were arrested after a brief encounter with the police in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad on Monday evening. One of the accused received two bullet injuries, while a police personnel was also injured.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Mohsin Safi and Aamir, who allegedly tried to steal a bike at gunpoint in Indirapuram area.

“The incident took place at around 3:40 pm, when a PCR call was received that two bike-borne miscreants tried to steal a bullet bike at gunpoint but following the gathering of the locals, the two fled the spot,” said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of Police(City), Ghaziabad.

Following the information, teams were formed and the bike was spotted near the Hindon river cut.

“On spotting the police, they opened fire at us. In return, we fired at them and after a brief encounter, the two were nabbed. During the encounter, Safi received two bullet injuries in his leg while a constable was also injured,” said Tomar.

Both the injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Police have recovered a countrymade pistol and a sophisticated pistol along with 4 live cartridges from their possession.

“We have booked them under section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code. We are also trying to find their criminal history,” said a senior police official.
