According to the police, the accused have been identified as Arun Kumar (24), a native of Meerut UP and the kingpin Vinod (34).
The South West District of Delhi Police have arrested two members of the Thak Thak gang from RK Puram area on Friday night. Police said that they were involved in spate of robbery using slingshot for breaking window pane and fleeing with the money.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Arun Kumar (24), a native of Meerut UP and the kingpin Vinod (34). In 2003 Vinod started selling fake stamp papers and was nabbed by CBI in an FIR relating Telgi stamp scam. He was also arrested in a rape case. He formed his own Thak Thak gang after coming out of jail and started renting out his own Scooty to recruited persons of this gang for committing crime.
"We had got information that the duo would be coming to sell stolen items on a scooty in RK Puram area. Following which a trap was laid and the two were nabbed. We recovered ten stolen mobiles, one laptop, jewellery, two ladies hand bag and the slingshot and five steel balls with which window panes of car were broken from their possession," said Devender Arya, Deputy commissioner of Police (south-west).
During interrogation Arun disclosed that he along with his associate Rinku used to target the vehicles in which bags were kept. They used to break glass with the help of Gulel and steel the bag. The accused used to target crowded road near markets and sell stolen items to Vinod.
Police said that Vinod used to provide his own Scooty at a daily rent of Rs 1,000/- for committing thefts. Prior to their arrest police has claimed to solve around two dozen cases.
