Two killed as speeding van rams into bike

According to the police the incident took place around 11:15pm when the two men, identified as Lokesh (24) and Tapesh (27), both relatives, were heading towards Chhawla area from Najafgarh.

Two youths aged 24 and 27 were killed when a speeding van rammed into the two-wheeler they were travelling in, in southwest Delhi's Chhawla area late night on Thursday. Police are checking CCTV footages to identify the errant driver.

According to the police the incident took place around 11:15pm when the two men, identified as Lokesh (24) and Tapesh (27), both relatives, were heading towards Chhawla area from Najafgarh.

"Witnesses told the police that the impact of the collision was such that the duo were thrown metres away and both sustained critical injuries on their head, back, and neck. The RTV driver managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of the crowd that had gathered. A passersby made a PCR call and the injured were rushed to a hospital where they were declared brought dead," said a senior police officer.

Both the bodies were sent for post-mortem and their families were informed. "A case of rash driving and death due to negligence under IPC section 304A has been registered and efforts to nab the absconding driver is being made. The vehicle has been seized and the driver has been identified," the police said.
