The Delhi Police have arrested two accused, who were involved in impersonating Amazon delivery boys to collect returned items and sell at the Gaffar Market, the police said on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Gaurav and Raju Singh.

When the cops received a complaint regarding the incident, a team of personnel was formed to apprehend the accused.

The complainant was one Ambika Saraf who is an authorised representative of the Amazon branch in Nehru Place. She had filed a complaint regarding the collection of a delivered camera from a customer, Gaganpreet Singh, who has a shop in the Dwarka Sector 6 market, by a fake delivery boy. Singh had got a call from Gaurav who was impersonating a delivery boy. But before he could reach the shop to collect the item, a genuine Amazon delivery boy, Jasvinder Singh, came and collected the item. On accused Gaurav's arrival, the police arrested him.

On sustained interrogation, Gaurav revealed that he had been an employee as a delivery boy in the Amazon branch in Laurence Road from 2015 till February 2018. He worked under the other accused, Raju Singh who was his store manager. After February, Gaurav was rendered jobless and contacted his colleague who would give him information of customers who wanted to return their purchased articles.

Gaurav would then call them and collect the items before the designated delivery boy would reach to collect the items.

The accused have cheated several customers with their most recent case being that of one Sanjay Kumar on Friday, who had returned a One Plus 6 worth Rs 36,000. They would sell the stolen phones and laptops in Gaffar Market and share the money they would make.

Following this Raju Singh was also arrested. The police are making efforts to recover the stolen items and have processed further investigation.
