Two held by Delhi Police with 535 kg cannabis worth Rs 50 lakh

Reliable information was received by the cops that Singh is supplying cannabis from Odisha to Delhi-NCR area and has been using trucks to supply the drug.

A team of Special Cell of Delhi Police apprehended two notorious cannabis suppliers in the Capital and 525 kg of high quality drug worth Rs 50 lakh with a truck was recovered from them.

The accused have been identified as Vijay Rai (48) and Atveer Singh (36). Reliable information was received by the cops that Singh is supplying cannabis from Odisha to Delhi-NCR area and has been using trucks to supply the drug.

On July 19, police received information that Singh has procured a huge consignment of cannabis from Odisha and is in the search of receivers, and he along with his another associate Rai will come near Shamshan Ghat Pusta. Based on the tip-off, a trap was laid and at about 4 pm, a truck was spotted. The vehicle was intercepted, and on search of the vehicle, 21 sacks filled with cannabis were found. Police seized the drugs.

An FIR was registered. Both the accused have been arrested. On investigation, both the accused revealed that they have been supplying cannabis for the last 10 months. The truck was purchased by accused Singh for this purpose only. They used to procure cannabis from Behrampur in Odisha and transport the same to Delhi-NCR where they used to sell it then.
