Two criminals nabbed in separate encounters in National Capital Region

Two wanted criminals, accused in a number of cases of heinous crimes, were arrested after a gunfight with the police in two separate encounters in the national Capital Region on Sunday night.

In the first encounter at the Tronica city area of Ghaziabad, the police had received information that two bike-borne criminals had looted a businessman. The information was made viral through a walkie-talkie.

"A team was formed and the accused were spotted hiding off the road. They were asked to stop, however, the pillion rider fired the bullet at the police party and tried to flee. One of the bullets brushed through the shoulder of a constable," said a senior police officer.

After a brief encounter, the pillion rider, identified as Dilshad, received bullet injury on the leg while the other accused managed to flee away taking advantage of the darkness.

"We have recovered .32 bore country-made pistol and one .315 bore pistol along with 4 live cartridges," said the senior police officer.

Dilshad is wanted in several cases of rape, attempt to murder, loot and theft across the NCR.

In the second encounter which was reported from greater Noida, Manish who allegedly has links with the Chhota Shakeel gang was arrested after a brief encounter. The police said that during the routine checking the accused, along with another assailant, was asked to stop, however, they fired at the police party.

"The two were chased and during the crossfire, a bullet hit Manish in the right leg. While Manish fell off the bike and was apprehended, his accomplice riding pillion managed to escape in the dark," said a senior police officer.

Police said that Manish had links with Chhota Shakeel and was a member of the gang that had been given the contract to kill Chakrapani Maharaj, who claims allegiance to the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha. 

Maharaj had bought underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's car for Rs 32,000 at an auction in Mumbai in 2015 and burnt it in Ghaziabad..

RECOVERIES MADE

A senior  police officer said that they have recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol and one .315 bore pistol along with 4 live cartridges from Dilshad. On the other hand, Manish allegedly has links with Chhota Shakeel
