The Delhi Police have arrested two accused in several cases of snatching, robbery and theft. The gang snatched mobile phones and other valuables from people travelling through Okhla Railway Station and Okhla Mandi.
The accused were identified as Danish (22) and Deepak (19). The duo was addicted to alcohol and to fulfil their needs they relied on crimes like snatching and theft. For snatching, the duo would climb up a slow train and one
of them snatched articles from the passenger. "Both of them would visit Okhla Railway Station and target passengers, while one of them snatched article another would block victim's way posing to be a passenger," said
Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-East District.
The duo has also snatched a mobile phone from an army man, but the victim jumped off the train to follow the snatchers. However, after adistance the accused overpowered him, hitting him on the head with a heavy rod. The duo then ran away withhis wallet. The accused were arrested as the police received a tip-off after which a trap was laid at Okhla Mandi.
During the investigation, the police have recovered a country-made pistol with 02 live cartridges, six mobile phones, a service identity card of an Indian Army soldier and two Aadhaar cards.
