The condition of the TV journalist who was shot at by unidentified assailants outside his house, is stated to be critical by the doctors. Hundreds of journalists staged a sit-in protest outside the Senior Superintendent of Police and District Magistrate office and demanded the arrest of the criminals and suspension of the Kavinagar station house officer.

Union minister General V K Singh visited the hospital and enquired about Chaudhary's condition.

According to the doctor at Yashoda hospital, Anuj Chaudhary, who works with Sahara Samay news channel, underwent an operation where the bullets were removed but his small intestine is damaged.

"The next five to six days are going to be crucial for Chaudhary as the risk of infection to be spread in the body is high. He has been kept on a ventilator in the intensive care unit," said a senior doctor of the hospital in Ghaziabad.

Around 2 pm, over hundred journalists from various TV channels and newspaper organisations gathered outside Ghaziabad's SSP office and raised slogans against the administration and police to condemn the attack on the journalist.

The protestors demanded immediate suspension of the Kavi Nagar's SHO, Samarjit Singh, whom they held accused of not taking any action against the suspected persons who were named in a written complaint given by Chaudhary a month ago after he feared a life threat from them.

"We demand senior police officials to suspend the inspector for being imprudent in the case. If he would have taken necessary actions at the right time, our colleague would not have been battling for his life at the hospital," said a journalist.

The journalists also warned police to stage a much- intensified protest if strict and immediate actions are not taken in the case.

Anuj's family members have named nine persons in the police complaint including a former councillor Shekhar Tyagi. However, the police are still clueless about their whereabouts and no arrest has been made so far.

"The probe is underway and all the allegations are being verified and teams have been formed and we will arrest the culprits soon," said Akash Tomar, superintendent of police (City).

On Sunday evening, Chaudhary was shot at four-five unidentified persons in Kavinagar area of Ghaziabad.

Chaudhary suffered three bullet injuries in the incident out of which one bullet hit him in the abdomen and two hit him in the right arm.
