Tripura CM Manik Sarkar meets Arvind Kejriwal to discuss federalism

A month ahead of AAP government's proposed conclave on Centre-State relations, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday met his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and discussed issues related to the country's federal structure.

The conclave, scheduled to be held on September 22, is expected to be attended by a host of Chief Ministers representing the non-BJP and non-Congress spectrum.

Sarkar, who is leading the country's sole Left-Front government, is in his fourth term. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also attended the meeting held in the Delhi Secretariat here.

"Both the Chief Ministers discussed the issue of Centre- State relationship and the federal structure of the country.

A proposed conclave of the Chief Ministers on the Centre-State Relation and Federal Structure was also discussed during the meeting," a Delhi government statement said.

It added that Sarkar was "quite positive" about the proposed conclave and said that it would be a good idea. He also invited Kejriwal and Sisodia to visit Tripura. Earlier, Kejriwal had met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and CPI(M) general Secretary Sitaram Yechury over the same.
