Three held for robbing Faridabad man

Three persons was arrested on Wednesday for robbing a 40-year-old man in south Delhi's Panchsheel Vihar on Monday. The accused confessed to their crime during the interrogation. The arrests were made by Head Constable Mukesh and Inspector Satinder Sangwan, SHO, Malviya Nagar.

"The accused have been identified as Naresh Chand, 43, Vikram Singh, 44, an d Mukesh Trivedi, 46. The total robbed amount was Rs 52.50 lakh, of which Rs 41.76 lakh has been recovered," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh said.

The victim, Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Faridabad, had gone to Panchsheel Vihar in Malviya Nagar to strike a property deal. Kumar told police that he had come with his friends Manish, Arjun, and Amit to purchase a plot in the area. There, they met a dealer named Ramesh alias Poonia, who told them to bring some token money before seeing the original documents of the plot.

Poonia then took them to the office of a property dealer, identified as Satish Chauhan, where two unknown persons were already sitting inside. Suddenly, one of them pulled out some demonetised notes. At the same time, as many as eight people barged into the shop and claimed to be police officers. They alleged that Kumar and his friends had come to exchange their old notes illegally and even took out a pistol.

Three of them then took the mobile phones and car keys of Kumar and his friends.They took the bag containing Rs 52.50 lakh from the car and fled. The remaining accused dropped the victims near the Select Citywalk and left.

Based on a tip-off that three of the accused would be meeting in a mall to split their booty, a trap was laid. The three accused were nabbed while efforts are on to nab rest of the accused, police said.
