Three arrested for raping minor

Nearly 20 days after three men raped a minor girl and attacked her friend in a park in northwest Delhi, the Delhi Police on Friday claimed to have solved the case by arresting the trio. One of the accused had earlier raped another minor.

Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Aslam Khan said: "The accused have been identified as Shivprasad alias Babua, 33, Arun Yadav, 36, and Kamlesh alias Baba, 28. Shiv Prasad was previously involved in another rape."
Babua works as an auto driver, Yadav is a distributor of pesticides, and Baba is a school dropout.

On December 16 last year, the three raped a 16-year-old girl and assaulted her male friend at a park in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area. The same day, a 23-year-old para-medical student was brutally raped by five men in a moving car five years ago.

According to the complaint, the minor victim used to work as a house maid and was sitting with her friend in the park near the Haidarpur slums in Shalimar Bagh area when the three accused arrived and forcefully took her to a
secluded corner and raped her. Her mobile phone was snatched while her friend was threatened and assaulted.

Initially, the police found some discrepancies in the statement of the victim's friend and did not give him a clean chit but after the arrest of the accused, it was revealed that the accused were not known to the victim or her friend.
