Three arrested for killing in West Delhi

Three men have been arrested for allegedly beating a man to death for non payment of debt on Sunday in West Delhi's Punjabi Bagh.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Rajeev (37), Sanjeev (47) and Jagdish Sharma (49) for allegedly murdering Nitin (36) for not paying Rs 12.5lakh which he owed to Jagdish, who ran a construction business.

Police said that they received a PCR call at 4am on Sunday from a private hospital stating that Nitin who had been admitted in the hospital with bruises all over his body has been declared brought dead.

"His family members said that he had come home late night with injuries after which they took him to the hospital. Before he could reveal anything he died," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bhardwaj.

A murder case was registered and investigation was taken up. Police then scanned call detail records of the victim after which teams zeroed on the accused. With the help of technical surveillance, Jagdish, Rajeev and Sanjeev were arrested, police said.

During interrogation, accused allegedly told police that Jagdish had to take Rs 12.5 lakh from Nitin which he was demanding for the last few weeks. When Nitin failed to pay, Jagdish called him in his office through Sanjeev. "All three of them beat him with a stick. They also took his scooty and forced him to sign on the sale letters of the vehicle. They let him go after over three hours," said DCP Bhardwaj.

Police said that Jagdish was declared bad character in Punjabi Bagh jurisdiction but was silent for the last 12 years and started working as a builder. He has been found involved in six criminal cases. Sanjeev worked as DJ organiser in a restaurant in the area and Rajeev is a AC mechanic, police said
